Nowadays, most people know that an antispyware solution is a necessity not just a bonus in preventing and removing spyware. A good antispyware program is designed to prevent, detect and remove spyware. Spyware has quite a few tricks to invade your computer. Most prominently, it clings onto downloadable programs. Freeware and shareware are not the only methods though; spyware uses email attachments and can invade simply by you browsing the Internet. Spyware hastily sends your private information to its creators via the Web. The legal form of spyware usually just tracks your browsing habits to determine what pop up advertisements to show you. This is done using a cookie that is placed on your computer that acts as a pocket of information that is eventually sent to the owner of the spyware. But then there are the rouge spyware with a malicious behavior that steals information illegally.
Antispyware monitors your computer every second to possible remove any spyware that may have sneaked through the cracks. But normally the spyware removal catches the spyware before it hits your PC and acts according to the software settings, which are specified by the end user. Normally the settings are for the antispyware application to notify you of the intruder. Then you decide rather to fix, quarantine, or delete the file. Good spyware removal software must regularly update its package, because spyware is rapidly mutating into a more intelligent program each hour.
There are some of the big brand antivirus software that also protects against spyware. But do not be overly optimistic, because those dual protection programs normally do not work as well as the more specialized antispyware programs do. So, I recommend getting an anti-spyware application for your spyware protection and not to depend on antivirus to protect against spyware. A pretty good combo protection program though is Norton Antivirus. But a program like ParetoLogic Anti-Spyware would do a much greater job against spyware, adware, phishing attacks, etc.
McAfee is another big name that is primary function is virus protection, but it now includes spyware protection. If you are looking to save money and do not download free programs off the Internet, then McAfee may be a decent choice. Overall McAfee is a very good program to use, and they provide 30-day trial.
Another good antispyware program is WebRoot’s Spy Sweeper. I have them high up on the list as for as removing spyware. This software offers you a free spyware scan. Spy Sweeper keeps its spyware definition file update much better than McAfee or Norton. It also ensures that your computer is constantly scanned for spyware and other malicious programs.
There are a few more really efficient spyware removal programs out there, like PC Tools’ Spyware Doctor, Defender by Microsoft, and Spyware Detector. Nearly all these programs offer a free download, so you can have chance to try the application before you buy. But be very careful, for there are many rouge antispyware applications that actually install spyware themselves. So do your research carefully!
